Add driver for ext2 / ext4 file system?

Hello, could it be possible to use external USB drives that are formatted with the Linux ext file system? I tried and it says the format is not recognized.
ext2 drives are great to use with many Linux based media players but since the Minix is Android based not Linux based is probably the reason why it does not support ext out of the box.
 
Thanks, interesting, so it should be possible in general. But this guide was written 10 years ago for Android 4.2. I don't think it works the same way with Android 9. And unfortunately I would have to root the Minix first, which hasn't been necessary for me so far.

Too bad. I'm thinking of selling my Minix again and buying a similar device that runs on Linux and supports ext2/4 out of the box. 🤔

Personal comment: I'm really disappointed that it does not work. As the guide explains, ext support is still in the Android kernel as it's based on Linux and ext "only" has to activated and mounted manually. But unfortunately the decisions about the development of Android rest entirely with Google and are not always what I would decide.
