Accidental Disconnection

I've had my Minix Neo Storage Pro 480 Gb for a while now (in fact, it's got +400 Gb on it!).

I find it easy to accidentally disconnect it without physically detaching it. I'll be working away and suddenly get the infamous "Minix was not properly ejected" error that you get when you don't drag the drive to the trash bin to eject it. This especially true in the winter. Why? Static electricity. If I touch the NEO Pro and feel a slight zap from the static, it will always eject on me. At no time have I unplugged it. Sometimes, it automatically reconnects. Other times, I have to physically unplug it and plug it back in. When it disconnects accidentally like this, ONLY the Minix internal drive is affected. Other devices plugged into the USB port or the HDMI port do NOT disconnect, just the drive.

Other than trying to discharge any static before touching it, anything else I can do to reduce this problem?
